McCormick Golden Dipt Tempura Seafood Batter Mix, 8 oz
All you need:
1 cup batter mix
3/4 cup ice cold water
1 lb. seafood or vegetables*
Vegetable oil
Pour oil into deep fryer, large heavy skillet or saucepan, filling no more than 1/3 full. Heat oil to 375ºF on medium heat.
1. Stir
Batter mix and water in medium bowl until mixed. Batter will be lumpy.
2. Dip
seafood or vegetables into batter. Shake off excess. Carefully add seafood or vegetables, several pieces at a time, to hot oil.
3. Fry
3 to 5 Minutes or until golden brown, turning once. Drain on paper towels.
*Cut fish or vegetables 1 1/2-to-2 inch pieces before coating with batter. Peel and devein shrimp before coating.
Best with shrimp, mushrooms, red bell pepper, sweet potato, broccoli, or onions.
To coat 2 Ibs. seafood or vegetables, use 1 box Batter Mix and 1 1/4 cups water.
Must be cooked for food safety.
Sesame Tempura Shrimp
• 1 cup Tempura Batter Mix
• 1 bottle (1 oz.) McCormick® Sesame Seed
• 2 tsp. sugar
• 3/4 cup ice cold water
• 2 tsp. sesame oil (optional)
• 1 lb. large shrimp, peeled and deveined
• Vegetable oil
• Dipping Sauce (see recipe below)
Stir Batter Mix, sesame seed, sugar, water, and sesame oil in medium bowl until mixed. (Batter will be slightly lumpy.) Fry as directed above. Serve with Honey Ginger Dipping Sauce, if desired.
Honey ginger dipping sauce: Mix 3/4 cup orange juice, 2 tbsp. each sliced green onions, honey and soy sauce, and 1/4 tsp. McCormick® Ground Ginger.
