Italian Style Meatball & Spaghetti with San Marzano Tomato Sauce
Yield: 8-10 serv.
Prep: 15 min.
Cook: 1 hour 25 min.
Ingredients
26 - 1 oz. frozen Cooked Perfect Italian Style Meatballs
2 (28 oz.) can of San Marzano peeled tomatoes
7 tbsp. olive oil, divided
1 large onion, diced
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. black pepper
1 lb. spaghetti, uncooked
2 tbsp. chopped fresh basil leaves
Directions
Open and pour out the 2 cans of San Marzano peeled tomatoes into a large bowl. Using a spoon, press each whole tomato down until it bursts and set the bowl aside. In a large pot over medium heat, add 4 tablespoons olive oil, onions and cook until translucent. Combine crushed tomatoes, sugar, oregano, salt and pepper into the pot with onions. Bring sauce to slow boil, then simmer on medium-low for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally. Increase heat to medium and add Cooked Perfect Meatballs. Heat the meatballs in the sauce for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. While the meatballs heat, cook the spaghetti noodles until al dente in a separate pot, following package directions. Drain noodles, toss with 3 tablespoons olive oil, then set aside on serving plate. Spoon sauce and meatballs over the noodles. Garnish dish with fresh chopped basil leaves.
