Bob's Red Mill 13 Bean Soup Mix, 29 oz
A unique blend of beans of beans that create a wonderfully customizable base for soup.
This hearty blend of beans is an excellent source of fiber and great for soups and chilis. Add your favorite seasonings to create an easy-to-prepare meal you'll feel good about eating.
13 Bean Chili
1 1/4 cups Bob's Red Mill® 13 Bean Soup Mix
2 tbsp oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 to 2 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp salt, plus more to taste
3 cups water
1 lb ground beef
Ground pepper to taste
Two 8 oz cans tomato sauce
Rinse soup mix before using. Heat oil in a large soup pot over medium heat. Add onion and saute until soft, 7-10 minutes. Add garlic, chili powder and salt and saute until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add soup mix and water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until the beans have just begun to soften, about 60 minutes.
Meanwhile, brown beef in a large saute pan; season to taste with salt and pepper. Add browned beef and tomato sauce to the beans and simmer for 1 hour. Adjust consistency with more water, if desired.
Makes 5 servings.
Store in a cool, dry place.
